Hello Red Son! We're about to have an influx of orders :)
Two newcomers by the name of Maki and Yuta Okkotsu are katanas users but have obviously arrived without them. Yuta wants to get one made for Maki, and I assume he will want one for himself, too.
Got it. Remember, katanas aren't simple since I can't just sculpt most of that process by hand.
[The free stuff is largely because he can just use the metal like clay to like ninety percent completion.]
I'll sort out the proper metal for those.
The Artist Kid has approached me. She may also come watch some time. Just make sure she's wearing the PPE if she's hanging around, she already knows to not copy me.
I'm honestly surprised Duck Girl didn't come in sooner for armor. She's very spirited. That design is more than doable, though I'll need to experiment how to get that shade of pink.
I know! I'll make sure they're aware there's a wait time.
[ Katanas are, after all, reasonably effort-heavy to forge if done traditionally. Blake's own short katanas are testament to that. ]
I'd be happy to have Luz come watch, if she likes :) I'll make sure we have spare PPE for any visitors.
That pink will definitely be a challenge, and I'm not entirely sure if we could even make a sword that shade. Painted armor would be easy enough, but would pink tinted metal even be possible?
We'll probably need smaller gloves that don't fall off. They don't need to be fitted if they're not here for work, but its safer in case they touch something they shouldn't.
Sort of. To change the color of steel, its all about heat and oxidization. Which I can do consistently when I've worked through a sample of a batch of steel. The normal process is a lot more by chance since even machines can't do the precision control of heat that I can. You can definitely get to reds, though its usually easier to do purples, blues, and oranges. I may be able to manage a darker pink.
Wow, I had no idea! All of the weapons that I'm familiar with from Remnant were all either grey or black metal -- it's common to paint weapons, but I can't think of any color-tinted steel.
I'm looking forward to experimenting with that, then, I'd love to learn the process.
It takes a lot of precision and careful control of heat, especially to avoid compromising the metal. Its doable, though usually what color can be promised is more a range than an exact kind. I can do exact because I can control the heat that precisely.
So I imagine even if your smiths know how to do it, it wouldn't be offered commonly since weapons are often in high demand in your world? It'd be either something done for fun or custom.

Luz Noceda will placing an order for a beginner's straight sword, and I may have hyped up your artistic abilities to her, so she's looking forward to seeing your work.
And Webby wants a set of armor, she has a design in mind. I'm going to get her in to get her measurements.
I'm also talking to a couple others about weapons, and will keep you updated.

But I can teach you, yes.
