I see you're intrigued, so I'll leave it there. No promises on MK being on board with it.
--Or how I'd react if he was, honestly. It's easy to talk about, probably more challenging in practice. [ The Wukong Issue being the biggest hurdle. But he couldn't deny MK if he really pushed. ]
Or it'd be the one relenting point. Let's be fair.
Wukong can't deny MK either.
Really, I must wonder how MK can be so down on himself, not many could have so many powerful entities wrapped around his finger in such a short amount of time.
He doesn't care about power. And when you feel undeserving, like you bring pain to everyone around you, having more people around you cuts a lot of ways.
Obviously he's not right about that, but that's his feeling.
I know. I know that's his feeling. I just don't understand why. Where it comes from.
His friends adore him. He has amazing ability. He can find joy in so many things. As far as hero work goes, his track record doesn't have anything THAT terrible.
Where did all that self doubt come from? Is it just the hero mentle or was it always there?
That kind of feeling doesn't appear out of nowhere, and having your idol choose you as his successor is going to amplify whatever's already there. Power shows you who you are, I believe is the saying.
Feeling like he can't measure up, like he's not good enough to protect his friends or the world at large since people keep getting hurt as he figures things out, like others always choose someone else first even despite objective evidence... it's hard to refute. And then he sees what it did to Wukong, how it isolated him, how he had to eventually go after everyone he loved.
MK being who he is, that's why he's the one for the post. But he's doubting if he can do it, if he even wants it. Especially since he was thrust into it all of a sudden, he didn't have millennia to get there like Wukong did.
So yeah, some of it is that heroics is a fucked up, self-sacrificing job that tends to attract fucked up, self-sacrificing people. Some of it was always in him. Some of it is expectations, both from himself and around him. Some of it is fear. It's a lot of things.
Not in a few millennia. You get used to these things. When Lady Bond Demon was infecting me, that was a struggle but I still managed it. [ She wasn't controlling him in exactly the same way as Wukong, so. ]
That sort of thing comes with safety and experience, two things he's never really had. Having more people around who could contain him if needed will help with the safe feeling, and having you there for emotional support. Making sure he's out in the wild, somewhere isolated, so there's less collateral damage.
The experience, there's no way to gain that but to gain it, unfortunately.
It's important to note that his progress usually came from necessity. He might respond to training differently. Still try it, of course, but it's possible you'll have to get creative.
He's very much base instinct. Complex thought isn't happening at all. He's very protective and sensitive to conflict and very much gives a vibe of 'the fight ends or I'm ending it' and we don't want him to end the fight.

[A fantastic show and his control desires.]
...far be it for me to limit your creativity. [Fair will just continue to crackle away as he grabs his still burning glass and downs it.]

I'm pretty sure I learned at least three new things about myself.
But yes, I get it being complicated.
no subject
It would be complicated. Just a question of how much I'd care in the moment. You know how he is.
no subject
I am very much aware of how he is.
no subject
If you think Wukong will hate my screwing around with you, MK would make him apoplectic.
[ And he's not sure if he wants that. He definitely doesn't want it for MK. ]

--None of them insurmountable, by the way.

It won't be insurmountable. At least coaxing seems to do something.
I need to actually start his training for that monkey form of his. The distractions are less severe now.
no subject
I'm around if you need me. [ He can actually train someone without being a complete ass. ]
no subject
I'm helping him to connect with a power he's terrified of. Learn to not be terrified, control how....erratic the energy it is.

Speaking of his monkey form, any advice on dealing with the weremonkey? Other than "be ready for affection, like it or not".

no subject
And avoid fighting with Wukong, I guess.
no subject
Very much don't fight Wukong.
The Weremonkey is closer to monkey form versus human form.
