I messed up my arm pretty badly if you can spare some healing magic. The damn monster tried to get rid of me by going after the kids so I strangled it with its own whip, unfortunately that meant my forearm got turned to hamburger. I didn't want to bother the doctor with it.

I have the more advanced healing, I can fix it.

Wonderful. Whenever it's convenient, then. [ It's a minor injury in the scheme of things, not a problem. He just doesn't want the kids looking at it for days. ]

[ A portal opens, right on cue, and there he is. With a bit of a ripple in the shadow before he just shows up so maybe he won't tumble ass over teakettle this time, you're welcome. ]

Thanks. Let me just get the bandages off. [ He starts unwinding them expertly. Clearly something he has a lot of practice with. ]

[ His arm is in an abysmal state, fur matted with blood and skin crisscrossed with injuries that look very much like they came from wrapping his arm in a barbed whip. "Minor injury" indeed. ]

[He was expecting it this time, at least.]

Minor injury...I swear, how many of you forget immortal doesn't mean invulnerable... [He huffs. He knows he's tanked some bad injuries, but he also prefers to get them fixed as soon as he can.]

[There is already a scattering of supplies, mostly papers with numbers and diagrams he was putting together. But that's secondary as he moves over to Macaque, hands moving over his. There is a gentle moving of warm air, helping stitch back together the injury.] I can't do anything about your fur. That'll just have to grow back in.

It was a split second decision. It was going after the kids and I had to catch its whip mid-strike. It paid for it in the end, though. I daresay it didn't much like getting killed with its own weapon, wreathed in light. [ He grins sharply. ]

No worries, I'll glamour it the way I do the rest of my scars. At least this one won't be permanent.

True. That is the advantage of the healing magic. Even the stuff that might have scarred can get fixed.

I had bigger priorities after, and so did everyone else. The doctor used all his healing magic anyway to make sure she kept her eye and her life. [ Your criticism is noted but it's not like there was a lot of consideration for anything else at that moment. ]

[ Shadows spin around his arm once the healing is done, just to remove the blood from his fur. Handier than dry cleaning. Then he glamours over the whole thing so it looks like all his fur is where it belongs. ]

I wouldn't call it protective. They're kids who are in over their heads, and they trust me for some reason. I'm not so callous that I'd screw around with that.

[He hums.] How long have you been injured? You know you can just call me, right? Or show up, if you're willing to risk whatever is going on.

[He raises an eyebrow at that.] That would be saving the kids. You got some very personal satisfaction if that lovely grin is any indication.

I had to get her settled, then I had to mop up her boyfriend who was equally a mess, and then I was talking to the doctor about her training schedule and all that so she can't try to con me about how quickly she's allowed to spar. My schedule was packed.

[ Also it's not a big deal, he's fine. ]

Well, those things did have an ugly, painful death coming. You can't tell me you disagree, and you didn't even see what they did to her face.

You know I don't accept students casually [ although he did take on these two a lot more easily than MK, which is sure notable ] and I chose this one, I'm not about to let any old riffraff take one of her eyes and let it slide.

I'm surprised the doctor let you go around with this.

I don't disagree, but also I like her, and I know I'm protective when I like someone.

[It Sure It Notable.] There isn't anything wrong with having people be that important you get protective, you know?

His focus wasn't exactly on me. [ And Macaque wasn't about to make it known that his arm hurt. ] Besides, the other kiddo wrapped it up, it's fine. [ This discussion is so closed. ]

I like her fine. Both of them. It's not a big deal. [ Except that everything about this is just a little off. ]

But if you liked my smile, I guess that's a plus. [ Changing the subject, him? ]

[Red Son is just giving Macaque a Look at him saying its 'not a big deal' because Red Son knows that isn't true. Letting in students, people to care about, is a hell of a big deal after all the emotional turmoil.]

[Sure, Red Son WANTS him to let people in, but was he really trying to get Red Son to believe it wasn't a big deal?]

I like you being pleased with someone you destroyed.

[ When the volume is turned down on the best, and worst, relationship of your life, everything else seems like less of a big thing. ]

What, do you want more details? Alas I don't have anything on a satisfying scream, I was garrotting it. Some interesting whimpering, though.

[There is Concern. This is a lot of changing really quick. Saying he was over Wukong is one thing, maybe there was some moment of epiphany, but that shouldn't just solve...all of it no struggle.]

Sometimes whimpers are more satisfying than screams.

[ Geez, one minute everyone's telling you to open up, the next they're worried you opened up too much. Can't win for losing. ]

The other three definitely screamed, at least. And I got to use the new abilities that came with those tattoos, that was fun. [ He got a permanent one, so. ]

[That is why he feels Weird about his concern. On one hand, he wants Macaque to be doing this! He wants him to be improving! But improvement takes time usually, so this is weird.]

Sort of irritating that I had to stick the ink on my chest but there are worse fates. Like letting those hacks take a razor to my fur, that would be worse.

There are worse places to get a tattoo. I assume you got a design to suit you?

I do have some tact for timing. Generally 'right after your people got hurt' isn't the best unless its something like a distraction or stress relief.

...but you also did have a really nice look when you talked about killing the monsters so its not just for that.
