[He raises an eyebrow at that.] You don't? Even for normal hunting? [He could get for an actual challenging fight, but using only a big weapon for a hunt isn't exactly ideal.]

Right, right. Well, I need to replenish my store of ores, so I'll be going to my supply spots tomorrow. Its a lot of digging and moving. I can teleport a cart, but I can't get the rocks out other than by tools.

I was not taught small steel claws.

[ He sounds a little bit uncertain, not sure how to explain. ]

Lupical hunt for me when small. Did not need sword. When older, leader tell me to use logs or my own fangs and claws. Then I met the strongest human, and he showed me a steel claw.

What's a Lupical?

....well, strength doesn't always mean a good teacher. Generally you work up to heavier blades. It helps adaptability and strain on the body.

How long have you been using Steel Claws?

[ The idea that Varka wasn't a great teacher rubs him the wrong way, though, and he bares those little human teeth like a wolf. ]

He is a very good teacher! He taught me that I'm human. He said small blades are not good for my strength. I have been using them for... um... five winters? Four?

[He sees the teeth and he bares his own in warning. He normally has sharper fangs, but they had shifted to be even more prominently sharp.]

[Demon instincts are a powerful thing, so while its not a challenge, it is a warning all the same about a potential fight.]

Teachers should be more thorough. He wasn't incompetent, evident by the fact you're not dead, but if the student is one who fights often, having the ability to know how to use a more easily replaced weapon would be the wise thing to do.

[ The desire to protect Varka's name is still there, but Razor isn't a dominant wolf outside of protecting his lupical, so he backs down and lowers his gaze. ]

He had to leave. Miss Lisa taught me speak, but she does not fight with metal. Only magic.

In my home, big steel claws are easy to find. Smith always sells, and the Traveler brings me new ones to try.

Ah, I suppose short of time is a decent enough excuse. Still, it would be wise to train with smaller weapons.

They don't have to be your primary, but it would help in more unexpected situations.

Such as... [He gestures around them.] Everything is easier in normal circumstances. Even this place, the Somnius blacksmith had jacked up the prices and wasn't much for haggling.
