...a combination of things.

Guanyin's been on my mind too much lately. Struggling to try and be better and how frustrating it is.

...the lecture that got me worked up with you, Wukong pulled out everything he knew to hurt me. At least I'm hard pressed to think of an insecurity he didn't use that he'd know about. I don't say it lightly that he was doing a fairly apt impression of the Lady Bone Demon.

And...he had strangled Macaque at the lab.

All those rattling thoughts in my head these past few weeks and it all just slammed right into the forefront.

I had come to the house, hoping to just find MK. If I had thought he'd be there, I would have stayed away longer. I knew I wasn't in a place to handle anything with reason, but...well, I was in it before I could back out.

[ Feeling super guilty about the Guanyin thing because she can't think it had nothing to do with the lotus and the ritual. And also because she's still not sure how she set him off that day. ]

...Do you really think he went for the painful stuff on purpose, or could it be that the stuff he had to say got at your deepest places?

[ She can't believe it would be the former. ] I saw him while you were still resting, and he seemed pretty mad, but nothing where I would say he wanted to hurt you just to hurt you.

[That, the memory scroll, the disciple costume top level I need to make at the masquerade. It was Many Things.]

If he thought he needed to say all that to make his point, then Wukong has a lot deeper issues than whatever is going on with his transformation.

There were things that were wholly unrelated. Other grievances he had with me. Things that didn't need to be said then, didn't do anything to help. It honestly made it actively worse.

It would be kinder to assume he lost his temper, than to believe he made that choice with a rational mind.

Oh, I believe he lost his temper.

What did he bring up that was unrelated? [ Maybe she can connect a few dots. ]

Father.

[Because that is the easiest thing to bring up and explain because let's be fair]

[Red Son's daddy issues are Obvious and Immense.]

...I can't tell how out of context it is based on one word.

I didn't bring up my father. I'm not even the one to bring up my issues with Wukong. He was the one to bring up both.

And when he brought up father, he knew at the time the thing he was bringing up was going to hurt and it wasn't even related. He knew he was going beyond what was necessary, admitted as much. Did it anyway.

He actually said "it's not necessary to go into this but I'm doing it anyway", or some variation of that?

[ That sounds premeditated, yeah. ]

"But that's barely part of the point here." I believe those were his words.

What exactly did he say about your father? Or your parents in general.

[forgingfires]

[He grimaces and looks away.]





I can't.

[He did say it was Lady Bone Demon levels.]

[ She leans down to give him a squeeze. ]

Okay. I understand.

[ That means Wukong gets the benefit of her doubt, though. ]

[Its not like he's trying to nuke her opinion of Wukong. He is even saying Wukong did it in anger, not out of planning which is...a whole different level of terrible.]

[She's just asking and he's answering.]

[He makes a noise of acknowledgement and he turns to bury his face against her stomach.]

[Forcing himself to breathe.]

[ Stroking his hair more gently now. ]

Just because he says something, doesn't make it true.

It being words father uses and Wukong doesn't is very compelling evidence.

[ Well absent context there's only so much reassuring she can do ]

[ So she stoops over to kiss the back of his neck. ]

[The daddy issues run DEEP and he is nowhere near okay enough to even try to poke that sleeping dragon.]

I'm tired of being angry.

I don't want you to keep being angry.

Neither does MK, or even Wukong.

...If you need help talking to him, I wouldn't mind.

I'm not sure this is a mediator situation.

[sangreine]

If I thought you two could handle it yourselves, I wouldn't offer. [ But she's pretty done getting hurt and having MK get hurt by this, so. ]

I also don't know if we can handle it, the problem is I'm not sure if a mediator could make the difference considering the specific issues at play.

So what's the alternative?

[ There had better be an alternative. ]

I've been thinking of getting bitten by those mushrooms again. I still have a few samples.

...Well, I'll give you this, you know how to use your resources.

If that doesn't work, and soon, I'll start to insist.

We're not doing anything until he's fixed.

Macaque thinks their fight is what set him off. The problem is there is plenty in that fight that could have been the trigger.
